The goal of this study was to test the efficiency of a Multi-Layer Display (MLD) which is comprised of two layers of LCD screens. The upper screen is transparent, making the layer beneath it visible. Former studies showed the potential contribution of the MLD to error reduction, as better differentiation between the various elements on the display helps to reduce overload. This study tested the effect of MLD on the performance of experts participants as they executed command and control tasks. It used "situation awareness" measurems, along with other performance measures, to assess the impact of the MLD on the experts' performance.
